In earlier post i have described about how mercury pollution occur on earth. How mercury enters in our ecosystem and then to our food, causing major health problem to people. Most poisonous form of mercury pollution is Methyl mercury.It causes neurological problem in the people. As you can search a lot about it in the internet. But i am going to mention here some of them.
First is Minamat:-It is sometimes referred to as Chisso-Minamata disease, is a neurological syndrome caused by severe mercury poisoning.
How this diseases spread and how it was named is a very interesting story of japan. It was caused by the release of methylmercury in the industrial wastewater from the Chisso corporation's chemical factory, which continued from 1932 to 1968. This highly toxic chemical bioaccumulated in shellfish and fish in Minamata Bay and the Shiranui Sea, which when eaten by the local populace resulted in mercury poisoning. While cat, dog, pig, and human deaths continued over more than 30 years, the government and company did little to prevent the pollution. The animal effects were severe enough in cats that they came to be called "dancing cat fever.
