i could see a research paper on graphene by C. Srinivasan
use of graphene has become very much vital.Graphene can be used in lot of ways.see below the usees of graphene.graphene will be used in computer for faster it. In every field of science it has shown it's popularity and importance. It is very important material till now.Diamond and graphite, the two well-known allotropes of carbon. In 1985 Fullerenes was discovered. It is the third form of carbon.Nanotubes was discovered in 1991. Diamod and graphite are threedimensional allotropes, nanotubes are one-dimensional allotropse and zerodimensional
(fullerenes) allotropes of
carbon were known. The isolation of graphene was quite elusive, until 2004 it was not able to extract Graphene.Despite its lack of isolation, graphene is the best theoretically studied allotrope of carbon for more than sixty years.
if you want to read a lot about graphene then you can go to C. Srinivasan research paper
I would like to tell you more about it here.

What is Graphene?
Graphene is a member of the class of 2-dimensional materials discovered by Professor Andre Geim's research group at the University of Manchester. It consists of a hexagonal array of sp2-bonded carbon atoms, just like those found in bulk graphite. These 2D materials display very interesting properties. The discovery of 2D materials means that scientists now have access to materials of all dimensionalities, including 0D (quantum dots, atoms) and 1D (nanowires, carbon nanotubes) and 3D graphite and diamond.
What are the uses does graphene?
Transistor:-
Graphene can be used to make excellent transistors. It is so thin we can easily control whether or not it conducts by applying an electric field.Electrons in graphene also travel ballistically (very fast)over sub-micron distances. As it can couduct current very fastly so, graphene-based transistors can run at higher frequencies and more efficiently that the silicon transistors. It has very less resistance.Currently there is no way to create whole integrated circuit by using Graphene commercially. It shall be possible in recent future and at that time computer will run at very high speed that you can't imagine.
Gas Sensors:-
Gas molecules that land on graphene affect its electronic properties in a measurable way. Thus, using graphene we can make a gas sensor. which will sense presence of gas.
Support Membranes for Transmission Electron Microscopy:-
Graphene is the thinnest material that we can make out of atoms.Interstingly and Suprisingly it is also very strong sheet of carbon.we hold micro- and nanoscopic objects we wish to look at in an electron microscope by graphene.
Inert coating:-
Graphene is too much resistant to attack by powerful acids and alkalis.YOu can see that even hydrofluoric acid and ammonia can't effect it. Thus a thin protective layer can be used to protect any material from acids.
